Children arrive between 6:00 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. As each family enters the infant room th y are greeted warmly by a member of the staff. Any messages or information that needs to be shared with the teachers is written in the communication book. During this time the children are engaged in quiet play and welcoming other families into the room.
Breakfast for the younger infants is prepared by the infant room teacher. The teacher follows the instructions given by the parent on the monthly feeding schedule. Older infants have their breakfast prepared by the kitchen. The children eat in their classroom with breakfast beginning at 9:30 a.m. and ending at 10:00 a.m.
The children explore materials in their classroom as well as participating in small group activities. The teachers engage the children in activities that are appropriate for their developmental stages. The children are also taken for walks around the community when the weather permits.
Lunch is prepared in the kitchen and served between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. depending on the age of the child. The teacher's help the children with their meals and encourage them with the development of their self-feeding skills as the year progresses.
Children who are awake at this time will explore the classroom materials or participate in a small group activity.
Afternoon snack begins at 2:40 p.m. Snack is served in the infant room.
Generally outside time will begin around 12:00 p.m. and end around 2:30 p.m. This time is spent in the play yard or going for a walk around the community.
Between 4:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. the children are transitioning from TLC to their home when their families arrive. Special messages and highlights of the day are shared with families through the daily sheet and conversation with the infant room teachers.
Children take naps as needed or as directed by the family.
Diapers are checked hourly and changed as needed.
